St. Stephen's Green
Nearby is St. Stephen's Green. This beautiful park is known for staying green all year round and is a great way to spend a day outdoors without leaving the centre of Dublin. For a century only the wealthier residents of Dublin were allowed to visit the garden until 1880 when Arthur Edward Guinness reopened the park to everyone.

St Patrick's Cathedral
Eleven minutes away on foot is St. Patrick's Cathedral. It is the largest cathedral in Dublin and the national cathedral of the Church of Ireland. The massive building was built between 1220 and 1259 on the very spot where St. Patrick is said to have baptized converts 600 years earlier. In the 1860s, major restorations were also made. Nevertheless, it is still one of the few buildings that still originate from medieval Dublin.
Tip: Plan your visit so that you can take one of the guided tours at 10:30, 11:30, 14:30, 15:00 or 15:30. This does not increase the admission fee of 7.00 euros.

Guinness Storehouse
Within a quarter of an hour you will arrive at the Guinness Storehouse, where you can first have something to eat. The Brewers' Dining Hall offers traditional food and Guinness® dishes, while in the 1837 Bar & Brasserie you can choose between smaller portions and hearty meals.
Afterwards you should take part in a guided tour through the seven floors of the former brewery for about 18.50 Euros. (It's best to book it online beforehand.) It will give you an insight into the history and the process behind the historic Stout. You will learn about the history of this unique beer: from the ingredients used in the brewing process to the legendary advertisements all over the world. Once you arrive at the top, you'll be treated to a free beer and a view of the city in the rooftop Gravity Bar.

Kilmainham Gaol
For your next destination you should consider taking a taxi, as this is the fastest way to reach Kilmainham Gaol. This dungeon gives its visitors one of the most unique insights into the darker side of Irish history. From 1796 to 1920 many famous people were imprisoned here in the fight for Irish independence. Among them were Thomas Francis Meagher and James Connolly. The dungeon was known for the harsh treatment of its inmates. In addition, in the early 19th century it served as a transport point for around 4,000 prisoners to the Australian penal colony and as a place of execution. Today the prison is converted into a museum that you can visit for 9,00 Euro.

O'liva
When you are finished with your visit, it is only a 10 minute walk to O'liva. This is considered one of the best Italian restaurants in Dublin with an authentic range of dishes. You can choose your wine from an extensive selection or have a beer with your pizza.
