Tubman Museum is the largest museum dedicated to African American history, art, and culture in the southeast, and an important icon in Macon. The 49,000-square-foot museum features a magnificent 63-foot-long mural titled “From Africa to America,” presenting a visual history of Black people from early days in Africa to current leaders and heroes, including Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King Jr., Otis Redding, Ellen Craft, Minnie Smith, and many more. The museum is open Tuesday – Saturday from 9am to 5pm.

    Davenport House Museum is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 10am-4pm and on Sunday from 1pm-4pm. Purchase tickets at their website.
    After visiting the museum, continue to explore historic downtown Savannah by walking around its 22 Spanish style squares surrounded by restored homes constructed in Georgian, Greek Revival, Gothic, Art Deco, and Italianate styles.
