Cafe Tomaselli
The first port of call was the "Café Tomaselli". From the outside it looked cosy and from the inside all the more cosy. We each ordered a piece of cake and a cappuccino. I really liked it here, as one can meet either tourists as also real Salzburgers who drink their morning coffee here or take "to go".

Festung Hohensalzburg
Not far from the café is the "Hohensalzburg Fortress" - a truly impressive building. The fortress is open daily from 9:00-17:00, or even longer, and with its countless highlights it is the perfect starting point for a short trip to Salzburg. The fortress is still very well preserved, so you have the choice of what you want to see. We have chosen the Cistern, the Goldene Stube and the Golden Hall, as well as the Schüttkasten and the Zeughaus. If you bring more time with you, you can of course also look at everything, but we wanted to see a few other things, so we weighed up.

Mirabell Palace (Schloss Mirabell)
From the fortress we went on to "Schloss Mirabell", which is about 20 minutes walk away. The Mirabell Castle was built in the beginning of the 17th century by Archbishop Wolf Dietrich and served at that time as residence and place for ceremonial occasions. Today weddings are celebrated here, the mayor has his offices here and at the same time the castle occasionally serves as a film set. All in all quite impressive and we now wanted to see it for ourselves. The castle itself was very pompous and very well maintained, but what I was even more enthusiastic about were the adjacent gardens. I have never seen such beautiful gardens before, except for the Bellevue Palace in Vienna - the park is adorned by different flowers and their colours and in addition there is an impressive fountain in the middle of the park. Let yourself be enchanted and enjoy the beauty, just like I did!

Monbijou - Linzer Gasse
Not even 10 minutes away from the gardens is the "Linzergasse", where you can stroll and browse around in the best way. Here you will find small boutiques and very good, but also somewhat expensive restaurants. Take your time here and enjoy the time.
Tip:
Go up the stairs to the Kapuzinerberg - at the top a wonderful view over the old town of Salzburg awaits you.

Coffee House Bruderhof
Right around the corner there is the "Coffee-House", where we made a little stopover. I ordered a blueberry muffin, a piece of strawberry cake and a coffee and was perfectly happy. I especially liked the ambience here very much - you actually only sit on small armchairs that have wooden legs. Even if it doesn't sound really special, I really liked it.

Getreidegasse
In order to get to the "Getreidegasse" one only has to cross the "Salzach" and one is already in the alley. When we arrived, we were sucked into a world of our own. The windows in the houses become smaller and smaller towards the top and often the older houses are marked with the year, the name of the former house owner or the eye of God. In the street is also Mozart's birthplace, which we did not want to visit until a few days later. Today it was more about walking through the old town and exploring everything.

Zum Zirkelwirt
For dinner we went to the Zirkelwirt, which serves rather rustic food. We were more than satisfied with the selection and ordered a Wiener Schnitzel with potatoes and jam. We had a beer to drink and afterwards a little digestive schnapps. The ambience is very robust and almost only covered with wood, a thing that was simple but very impressive. After we had finished eating we slowly went back to the hotel.
