    Grünmarkt

We had never been on the road so early before, but we were not the only ones. We walked to the "Grünmarkt", but alternatively you can use public transport. At the weekly market there are about 40 stalls where you can get regional food - this ranges from fruits and vegetables to meat, cheese and everything in between. So we decided to make a small breakfast and pick the best of everything and eat it right there. From here we went to the "Schrannenmarkt".

    Schranne

The "Schrannenmarkt" only takes place on Thursdays, but about 130 sellers come here. Besides delicious regional delicacies, which we didn't leave out here either, you can also buy flowers, tools and self-made jewellery. We were really glad that we could include this in our visit, because this way we met many regional salesmen with whom one can also talk and exchange wonderful stories.

    Salzburg Cathedral (Salzburger Dom)

Next we wanted to visit the "Dom zu Salzburg", which is a real experience with its baptismal font, crypt, relics and chest. There is still a lot left and with its two towers and the mighty dome, the building looks extremely majestic. The entrance is free, but everyone is happy to make a small donation. I would recommend to take part in a guided tour which costs 5€ for everyone from 16 years on and is free for everyone who is younger. This way you learn a lot about the cathedral, its history and its anchoring in the community.

    220 Grad Roesthaus Macheiner

After the cathedral we made a short stopover in the "220 Grad". This is a modernly furnished café, which I was particularly impressed by the seats set into the counter. The offer here is, as actually in every good café, very big and one can order everything from cooking over a hearty snack up to a fruit plate in order to fill the stomach again. We decided to have a double espresso and a piece of cake, because it was not so long until dinner and we would eat there again properly 😉.

    Haus der Natur Salzburg

We still had a little time after we went to the café "220 Grad" and therefore we went to the "Haus der Natur" to see the long extinct dinosaurs as well as the technology and science. The museum is really vividly arranged and offers also for children the optimal destination, because there are some stations to join in and try out. The entrance fee is 8,50€ for adults and 6€ for children under 15 years. For us, this was the perfect place to learn a little more, as the museum is open until 17:00, so that we walked straight back to the hotel from here in order to get ready for the evening.

    Ikarus

Less than 20 minutes from the hotel is the "Ikarus" - a rather noble restaurant where you can only get a table with a reservation. I recommend you to reserve a table immediately upon your arrival, or maybe even before your trip, because on weekends it looks bad with a short-term reservation. As you can guess, the food consists only of selected ingredients and is prepared personally for the guest, which is why a reservation is so important. One can always choose between different menus, there is a rather constant menu called "Ikarus" and then a separate menu offered by changing guest chefs. The evening was really nice and it was fun to treat yourself to something for once, but we will certainly not spend that much money on food again for the next few months 😉.
