    Viking Biking

To make the most of the day we rented a bicycle with which we could ride around the city comfortably and flexibly. There are also different stations of City Bike, but since we surely needed a bike we reserved two city bikes in advance at the nice provider Viking Biking. For one day you pay the equivalent of 20,oo EUR rental fee, which is quite reasonable. Because we had already reserved the collection went very fast and we could swing and on the saddle, in order to drive to our selected breakfast cafe.

    Liebling

In the alternative Café Liebling you simply feel right at home. The casual interior and a relaxed atmosphere invite you to linger and we also enjoyed our breakfast very much. There is a small but nice selection of breakfast à la carte like avocado sandwich and croissant or an extra portion of energy served as Acaí Bowl with a cup of coffee. So the day can start!

    Damstredet

On the way to the sculpture park we drove through the beautiful street Damstredet. Here and also in the side street Telthusbakken one gets an impression of the traditional Scandinavian architecture, because in the idyllic rose lanes one colourfully painted wooden house follows the next. I was totally thrilled by this view and so we made a few extra laps through the beautiful area, got off here and there and took a few great holiday pictures, which will surely get a place in my study.

    Vigeland Sculpture Park (Vigelandsanlegget)

After about 20 minutes on the bikes we reached Vigelandsparken, the life's work of the sculptor Gustav Vigeland. On the extensive green area there are more than 200 sculptures, which together with the artistic landscaping form a unique gesture-art work about the cycle of life. The park was really very fascinating for me and also apart from the exciting sculptures, many visitors use the park for a relaxing stay in the green, because in this harmonious environment one quickly forgets the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

    Anne på landet - Frognerparken

After the long walk through the sculpture park we slowly got hungry and decided to walk back to the small café we had seen while passing by. The café was of course approximately stouristic in the middle of the museum park, but we still found a comfortable place in the sun and fortified ourselves with a sandwich and a good coffee. For dessert we each had a cinnamon roll, which we enjoyed in peace and quiet before we left for our next destination.

    Royal Palace (Det kongelige slott)

I was very happy that we had rented the bike for this day, because in no time we were at the Royal Castle. The castle can only be visited in a guided tour and only in the summer season. Thus, those who want to see the Royal Palaces, summer houses or collections should get informed in advance about the tour offers. We only made one round with the bike and had a look at the accessible areas to get an impression of this gigantic house.

    Norwegian Parliament

Via Karl-Johans Gate we drove past the State Theatre to the Norwegian Parliament building, where we stopped again to have a closer look at this magnificent building and to take one or two holiday pictures.

    Museum of Contemporary Art

As an interior designer, I may have a special liking for architecture and art, so of course I couldn't pass by the Museum of Architecture in Oslo. Unfortunately, we arrived at the museum only one hour before closing time, I would definitely plan more time next time, because I could have stayed at least twice as long at this great and interactive exhibition about the history of housing. Also for children, the visit is an exciting experience, as here, one does not only look at the exhibitions but also lends a hand and builds small models. The entrance fee for adults is approximately 5 EUR, on Mondays the museum is closed.

    Viking Biking

After visiting the museum we slowly made our way to the bike rental to bring our bikes back before 6 pm. This went very smoothly and quickly we were on foot again.

    Elias Mat & Sånt

As this was our last evening in Oslo, we treated ourselves to a delicious menu in the restaurant Elias Mat & Sant. I had a really delicious fish soup with fresh salmon, cod and mussels as a starter, which almost filled me up. But also for meat lovers or vegetarians, the selected menu offers some great dishes of the Scandinavian cuisine. The prices in the Elias are higher than in Germany, but with the higher price level of the Norwegians they are really reasonable. We spent a very nice evening in the cosy Lokas and talked vil about the different impressions we had collected during this exciting day.
