Spring Run Trail, Spa Treatment, and the Sounds of Folk

Depart in the morning, heading up the Henry Hudson Parkway to the GW Bridge.

As you hop on NJ 17 N to I-87 N, get off in Ridgewood, New Jersey at the beloved Daily Treat Restaurant for a sit down breakfast before getting back on the highway heading north.

As you slide into Saratoga Springs, make your way to the boutique Adelphi Hotel on Broadway, the main drag. With its Victorian facade and towering pillars, it's hard to miss. Take out one of a collection of bicycles the hotel keeps for a quick spin to your lunch spot and then come back to the hotel to pick up the car and go exploring Saratoga Springs.

Enjoy lunch at this low-key farm-to-table restaurant with a menu sourced from local farms and a nice selection of beer and wine.

Stretch your legs after your drive and head to Spring Run Trail, where you can walk on a pedestrian path along the Victorian-era railroad bed that paralles the fault line of historic natural springs.

Now that you've had your exercise, engage in a bit of pampering at Roosevelt Baths & Spa, the city’s last remaining bathhouse, built in 1935. Take a swim in the vermillion-tinted waters then enjoy a full body massage. Book ahead on the spa's website.

The Tang, opened in 2000 on the campus of Skidmore College. It was designed by architect Antoine Predock and includes the Wachenheim Gallery and the Malloy Wing as well as the smaller State Farm Mezzanine and the Winter Gallery. Since 1938, Hattie's has been using the same recipe to cure the hangovers of hard-partying horse race gamblers: Southern-fried chicken with cole slaw, collared greens, or mashed potatoes. Stop in and sample the goods. Grab a table outdoors if the weather's nice.

After dinner, amble over to Caffe Lena where Bob Dylan played his first show outside of Manhattan. Lena lays claim to being the oldest continuously operating folk music venue in the U.S. Enjoy a show and soak in the local vibe.
