Garden of Salvador Bachiller
Directly in the parallel street of our hotel we found a cute little teahouse where we first took a deep breath. Surrounded by a lot of plants we drank here some refreshing cold fruit tea with fresh fruit and actually had the feeling to sit in a small piece of garden. Everything was lovingly arranged and tasted super delicious.

Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía
Since we were in a hurry and the day was almost over, we took the Metro 1 to our first big stop. Madrid is a world cultural city and accommodates not one but three of the biggest and most important art museums of the world. The Museo Reina Sofia concentrates on the modern Spanish art. Here we could admire works of art of Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró. A ticket costs 8 euros and one should always take some time into account when queuing.

LA COLONIAL DE HUERTAS
After we left the Reina Sofia, we walked north to the famous letter quarter. The Barrio de las Letras is full of great restaurants and bars. Moreover, the alleyways are beautiful to look at. The street floors are full of quotations of great Spanish poets and thinkers and we were glad to recognize one and two we knew. Here we strolled around until we stumbled over La Colonial de Huertas. In the Cuban restaurant we could try some completely different food than what we know in Germany.
