    Mercado de San Miguel

Our first destination of the day was the market of San Miguel. This big market hall is one of the biggest markets in Madrid next to the Mercado de la Cebada. Who has the time should definitely visit both. The Mercado de San Miguel is located near the Basilica de San Miguel, and is open every day from 10 am to midnight. Here you will find stalls with fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, cheese and much more. But also bars, cafés and restaurants have found their way here, so that really everyone can find what they are looking for. As souvenirs we bought real Ibérico ham and chorizo salami here. We could also try real Spanish Paella and Gazpacho.

Royal Palace of Madrid (Palacio Real de Madrid)

The Royal Palace is a MUST for every traveller in Madrid. Full of history and art, it is definitely worth a visit. It is open from 10am to 6pm and the entrance fee is 11 euros. An extra 3 euros is charged for an audio guide. Those who do not want to queue can also buy guided tours online that promise no queues. But such a tour costs around 37 euros. Everybody has to decide that for himself.

Almudena Cathedral (Catedral de la Almudena)

Right next to the palace is the Almundena Cathedral. Also here, one has to queue up for a few minutes, as it is only teeming with tourists. The waiting time always depends on the season and the day of the week. In the winter time, one is actually very fast in it, we had to queue for barely half an hour and ate some of the little things bought at the market. But this way we could admire the beautiful cathedral and take great pictures.

    Corral de la Morería

We wanted to see real Spanish flamenco. That was one of the things that was always on my spoon list. On the internet we had looked up where we could find the best flamenco bars in Madrid and finally decided on the Corral de la Moreria, which is just a few minutes away from the Palacio Real. This time we took a taxi, the hotel had ordered one for us. In 15 minutes, we arrived for barely 3 euros. Here, one has to plan a little bit of money, as for the show alone for two persons 95,90 Euro have to be planned. Good flamenco is nowhere cheap. Additionally we had dinner there and enjoyed very tasty tapas for entertainment.
