Our hotel was located directly in Ribeira, Portos old town quarter on the river. In former times poor fishermen lived here, many houses are still in need of renovation. But the quarter has charm. It is arranged in narrow alleyways on a hill, often we had to climb stairs. At the promenade there are many bars, souvenir shops and restaurants. Ribeira is a nice old city district and here, a walk is worthwhile.

For dinner we had reserved in a small exclusive restaurant. Authentic Portuguese cuisine was served there. The fish in a salt coat was flambéed right in front of our eyes. The restaurant is very small, there are only eight tables, so you have to book in advance. Here we had a nice dinner and tried some new local specialities.
