Zenith Brunch & Cocktails - Porto

Of course you can also have breakfast in the hotel, but I think you get to know a city best in its restaurants. So we went to the Zenith for breakfast, a cool place where you can get everything from brunch to cocktails. We ate very delicious smoothie bowls, but you can also order or brunch other breakfast dishes.

    Torre dos Clérigos

After breakfast we walked to Clerigos church. This church is one of the landmarks of Portos with its high steeple. The church is very worth seeing from the inside as well as from the outside. We climbed up the church tower and looked from above at the city. The entrance fee is 5 euros and I would recommend you to go there early or late in order to avoid the big rush and not to have to crowd in the narrow tower with so many other people.

    Ponte Dom Luís I

The Ponte Luis is the world-famous bridge in Porto that crosses the Douro. It has two floors, one for cars and one for trams. Pedestrians are allowed on both levels. We walked along the bridge and enjoyed the great view over both parts of the city and over the water. But be careful, if you want to walk along the top of the bridge, you should be free from vertigo.

    Tapabento S.Bento

For lunch we went to the Tapabento, a small restaurant. Also here, there are some typical Portuguese dishes as for example fish or tapas. The restaurant has a cosy, familiar atmosphere. The choice of the food is big, everything is freshly prepared and arranged with a lot of love to the detail. We had a very delicious meal and took great photos for the blog.

    Praça da Batalha

Just behind the world famous Praca da Batalha the shopping street Rua Santa Catarina begins. In the square there is a beautiful church, decorated with the elaborately painted blue tiles, the azuleios. After you have admired them, you can start your shopping spree. On Rua Santa Catarina there are not only tourists but also many locals. I am a big shopping fan and so we took our time to stroll through the shops and look for stylish and nicely designed pieces. On this long street there is something for everyone and you can always take a break in a cafe.

    Chapel of Souls

The Capela das Almas really blew my mind. The chapel on Rua Santa Catarina is decorated with almost 16000 azuleios. As in the previous church, this design also inspires me here. On these tiles there are different stories painted on and they make a beautiful overall picture. You should take as much time for the interior of the chapel as for the facade. On the busy shopping street it is a real haven of peace and we could stay here for a long time and enjoy the unique atmosphere of this artfully designed church.

    Majestic Café

A cafe for a shopping break on Rua Santa Catarina is the Cafe Majestic. J.K. Rowling is said to have written the Harry Potter books here. And while we are on the subject of the author, it is said that she got a lot of inspiration for her works in the bookstore Livraria Lello. You can also visit this store. But it costs four Euro entrance fee and we did not go there because it was too crowded. But in the Cafe Majestic you will almost always get a table and can take a break with a coffee.

    Bolsa Palace

Then we walked to the Palacio da Bolsa, the stock exchange palace. This building used to be the home of the stock exchange and today you can visit the palace. From the outside it looks relatively unspectacular, but inside there is much more to see. The eight euro entrance fee is worthwhile in any case, there is a guided tour and the halls in the building are very interesting. There are two specially gorgeously arranged halls, the Moorish hall and the Hall of Nations. You should register online for the guided tour in advance.

    Curb

In the evening we went to the Curb and ate very tasty burgers. This restaurant is again quite small, but they serve American food. Our burgers and fries were so tasty, I could have taken it! The prices were also just great and we made reservations here again because the restaurant is quite small.

PORTOLOGIA - La Maison des Port

After dinner we went to a bar, the Portologia. Because if one is already in Porto, we also had to taste the world famous port wine! We ordered a wine tasting with six wines and some finger food. The waiters were all very friendly and helpful and were able to explain us the port wines and their history very well. We felt very comfortable here and could let the evening fade away nicely.
