    Frankie's

Because it looked very cosy and delicious from outside, we grabbed a table here. The price-performance ratio was really good, the ingredients were all fresh and we had a real vitamin kick afterwards.
We each ordered a fresh sandwich with one of the many juices. If you are looking for a hearty meal, there are many rustic restaurants in the area.

    Rynek Główny

Freshly strengthened, we took a closer look at the historic old town. The huge square in the centre of the old town is considered to be the biggest medieval square in Europe and one feels surrounded by churches, the town hall tower and the arches of the cloth hall, one is really travelling back in time. We could not even decide where to start.
By the way, the square and the whole old town belongs to the UNESCO world cultural heritage.

    Sukiennice

From the outside as well as from the inside the cloth halls are a real eye-catcher. The Renaissance building is decorated from the outside with grotesque stone heads, which are very popular as decoration in Poland. But in any case, the many archs around the hall are eye-catching.
The interior is very touristy, as souvenirs, amber and lace doily are sold in the wooden stands. Actually, we could even do some trading here, as the price tag is often a basis for negotiations. But in any case, take good care of your bags here.

    St. Mary's Basilica

Directly opposite the Tuchhallen is the beautiful Marienbasilika with its towers of varying heights - one of the most beautiful churches in the city, if not the most beautiful. In the evening I had a real neck ache because I was looking at the blue, gold decorated ceiling all the time. The altar also glows in these colours.
We had a lot of luck and were able to climb the north tower with some other visitors (you have to be really fast here) and had a fantastic view over the old town.

Church of St. Wojciech (Kościół Św. Wojciecha)

Still a little dizzy from the view we walk to the Adalbert Church, probably the smallest church of Krakow and is also due to its Romanesque simplicity a contrast to the basilica. The small church is named after Adalbert of Prague, the patron saint of Poland, who is said to have preached here. But we could not spend much time here, because we had tickets for a very special experience.

    Rynek Underground Museum

Already when planning our trip to Krakow we booked tickets for the underground museum, as only a certain number of visitors can visit the museum at any one time. The museum is a mixture of an archaeological site and a classical exhibition, where you can learn a lot about the history of Krakow and especially about the market place.

    Starka | Restaurant & Vodkas

Because of the good reviews we spent the evening at the Starka and it was even nicer than we expected. The restaurant is very cosy and relaxed with a down-to-earth Polish cuisine. Highlight for us was the homemade, flavoured vodka.
We met some nice people there, with whom we wanted to meet the next day on Wawel Hill.
