    Valencia Cathedral

The square with the cathedral is only a 10 minute walk away and beautiful. We did a "Free Walking Tour" which included several sights, such as the cathedral, the water court, the fountain "Fuente del Turia", the city gate, the government palace and the narrowest house in the world. In addition, there is the market hall and the silk exchange. When we arrived at the cathedral we sat down on a few steps at the edge of the square and waited for the start of our free walking tour. We enjoyed watching the Spanish hustle and bustle on the square. Around the square orange trees adorn the cityscape, which completes the picture.

Malvarrosa Beach (Playa de la Malvarrosa)

In the afternoon we went to the beach. Because this beach is a little bit outside, we took the bus line "Nr. 95" from the city center, but it only cost 1,50€ and can be paid directly to the bus driver. It was a great feeling to get off at the bus stop and to see the beach and the sea behind the houses. It is miles long and very wide - we immediately started walking and walked from "Playa de la Malvarrosa" to the "Marina". Of course we took off our jackets and enjoyed the beach feeling to the full.

    Oceanogràfic

After the small recreation on the beach, we went to the "Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ceincias", a park with different entertainment offers, further to the "L'Hemisferic", a construct, which represents an oversized eyelid, past the opera "Palau de las Arts Reina Sofia" up to the "L'Oceanografic", the biggest aquarium of Europe. The impressive building houses a 4D cinema, as well as huge tanks with sharks, rays and eels. The entrance fee for adults is just under 30€, but there are also combi-tickets available, with which you can see both the aquarium and "L'Hemisferic" - it's a bit cheaper. After the experience in the aquarium we continue through the botanical garden up to the "Jardines del Turia".

    Jardín del Turia

The "Jardines del Turia" is one of the largest parks in all of Spain with palm trees, colourful flowers and well-kept lawns as far as the eye can see. After such an exciting day it was very pleasant to walk along a part of the 9 km long green area and to watch the active activity of the locals - joggers, cyclists, sports- & dance groups, skaters, mini golfers, walkers with and without dog - here, everything is represented. After the short relaxation we wanted to find a restaurant for dinner and came across "La Santa".

    La Santa

La Santa" is a very cozy Spanish restaurant with really nice service and owners who are behind the bar. The menu consists mainly of tapas, which all taste very delicious. The choice and the portions are quite big and when we wanted to order six tapas, the waitress said that four tapas would be enough for two persons and she was right. It was a really cozy atmosphere in the small restaurant in which one can sit either inside or outside. The audience was mixed with young, old locals and tourists - a really delicious food and a very nice evening.
