Pekarnica Pile
The Pekarnica Pile is a local bakery with many different delicacies. Fresh bread is baked in the ovens and the baker kneads the dough in the back room. Delicious croissants, rolls, strudels and much more are on offer and often still warm. And all at local prices. Alternatively, you could of course have breakfast at the hotel.

Rector's Palace
The Rector's Palace, also known as the Dubrovnik Museum, is only 5 minutes away from the bakery. It is not necessarily what you think of when you imagine the residence of a monarch. Maybe that is because each rector lived there for only one month. This system was in effect in the Dubrovnik Republic until 1806.
Take enough time to explore the halls of this public palace. I personally liked the impressive courtyard best. But also the city museum on the second floor is really worth seeing. Here you will find antique furniture and works by local artists as well as a bizarre collection of clocks. The entrance fee is about 40 HRK (about 5€).

Franciscan Church and Monastery
This Franciscan monastery is practically right next door and has been in continuous operation for almost 700 years. Even more fascinating is that the monastery houses the third oldest functioning pharmacy in Europe. The museum part of the pharmacy has antique laboratory equipment, tools and medical literature. In 1667 an incredibly devastating earthquake brought down almost the entire complex - all that remained was the church portal. A highlight are the cloisters from the 14th century with their decorated columns, which have unique faces on the capitals. The entrance fee is about 30 HRK (approx. 4€).

Old Town (Stari Grad)
Spend the rest of the afternoon visiting the other parts and sights of the old town. There are great shopping opportunities and some great little cafes. Stroll along the main artery of the city to get to know the vibrant vibrancy of Dubrovnik. You should not miss the impressive "Luza Square" or the "Onofrio Fountain". However, at the end of your exploration of this walled paradise, you may well feel the desire to stay within these impressive stone city walls.
Sit down in one of the many cozy cafes and treat yourself to a cold drink and a small snack.

WAR PHOTO LIMITED
A visit to this photo exhibition should not be missed in any Dubrovnik district. The exhibition deals with past and present wars, which are illustrated in a very emotional way. Make sure you take enough time to explore the entire museum, take the photos and read the descriptions. When you are on holiday, it is easy to forget that this country experienced a war very recently. Afterwards you might walk through the alleys of Dubrovnik in a different way. The entrance fee is 50 HRK (about 7€).

Otok Lokrum (Obsolete)
Less than half a mile off the coast lies this forested island, which can be seen from the city walls of Dubrovnik. The beaches are very rocky, but they are clean and above all safe, unlike those on the mainland. So be sure to bring your swimsuit on this trip! But there are also interesting sights, such as the Benedictine monastery or the botanical garden, which are worth discovering. For the water taxi you only pay 25HRK (approx. 3€).

Fort Imperial
The ride with the cable car is a must! It takes you up to the top of the Srd mountain in less than 2 minutes - from here you have a fabulous view of the south Dalmatian coast! The original Dubrovnik cable cars were closed down in 1991 after the city was hit by heavy bombs. But in the summer of 2010, almost 20 years later, the cable car returned triumphantly, during the Summer Festival, the biggest event in the city.
My tip: Since the tickets for the ride are quite expensive (73 HRK for the return trip) get only one ticket for the ride up, you save over 60%. Then you walk down, because this approx. 30-minute walk is beautiful and leads you directly to the city walls of the old town.
